I was hooked right away from the introduction, when the author said you start a new world once you no longer accept being the "Designated Cancer Patient". That's what I've been to everyone, that's how they see me, but I'm changing all that with this book. I feel I have found a real survival guide covering topics no one's ever discussed with me, on hair and skin, lymphedema, libido, dryness and lots more. Her section on "Reclaiming Your Sexuality" is invaluable because nowhere else does anyone talk so frankly about the uniquely personal and very intimate problems of breast cancer. This is the first breast cancer book I am re-reading for the third time, taking notes while I go, and I've already filled a notebook! And now I finally know what to ask, but even more how to talk about all these issues with my professionals, as a woman not just a "designated cancer patient". Priceless! Every breast cancer survivor should own this book. -- Up Close and Personal!

If you are a woman and have breast cancer or if your wife has breast cancer, you have to get this book. My wife was changed by it. She has become the woman she was before her cancer. She is full of joy and hope and love again, where, before, she was feeling badly about herself and her body and her future. Because the author has had cancer, my wife could identify with her and trusted her advice. Cancer no longer consumes her - life and living it to the fullest does.
I don't know how the author could climb inside my wife's psyche like she did, but I will be forever grateful to her. Life is wonderful and cancer is just a part of our past now.

Finally, a book for what happens after cancer.
I read this book in one sitting because I couldn't put it down.
I started out wishing I could be as positive and full of life as the author, but by the time I was done reading, I was.
I had breast cancer three years ago and had lost my breasts and underwent reconstruction. I have always felt unsure of myself dating someone new. Not anymore. I have hope, confidence and so much knowledge just from reading these tips. I wish there were more personal stories. They really made the whole thing come to life for me.
If you have had breast cancer or know someone who did, get this book. Truly. -- At last
