This book covers all the stumbling blocks to a truly amazing marriage. This book is for those of us who are unwilling to "just settle." -- Excellent
If you are not a conservative Christian who sees eye-to-eye with this guy on religion, the references to sin and the expression of sexuality as he claims it to be prescribed by God may turn you away FAST. In that sense, it seems non-inclusive. On the other hand, he clarifies why dragging sexual baggage into a relationship is going to damage it. He is really clear that if someone has expectations based on sex with an ex, then that is not the current partner's problem, and if it gets dumped on the current partner it is a demoralizing factor that can ruin intimacy. Well done! In other words, dump it on your therapist or on God, not your partner. But all the references to past sexual acts as sin are SHAMING, and a lot of psychologists would find that very unhealthy. If you read between the lines, some of the values that are subliminally ingested through Christianity become very clear, potentially offering insight someone who is trying to recover from religious abuse so that they can feel better about sexuality. Hard to tell if that part is worth the price of the book and the effort, because the religious values applied may inspire more shame. This author's earlier work, such as "Beyond the Bedroom," has less religious content superimposed onto the clinically valuable content. -- Only book that clarifies damaging effect of sexual baggage
