Family Playing GameSelf esteem boosting activities for kids dealing with issues of self image and confidence can seem like a daunting task. As someone that is sensitive to their needs, you may not know how to approach them about it or even what to say to them.

However, what’s important to kids is being respected and want to feel like they matter. Show them respect, don’t talk down to them and provide support. You will find these things go a long way, even for those kids who don’t have self esteem problems. Some of the following activities should be suggested:

Make a list of their strengths. One way to build self esteem in young people is to have them list the things they are good at. This is an activity you can do with them as you may see things they don’t. This can help them build their list. Once the list is made, acknowledge it on a regular basis. If you notice something from the list that the child is doing at the moment, give them praise for it. Never go overboard with praise, a child can see right through that, but do give genuine praise and find ways they can use their strengths more. Read the rest of this entry

Improve Self Confidence, Self Esteem

improve self confidence, self esteemDo Suggestions Provided For Improving Self Esteem and Confidence Really Work?

Although there may  not be many people asking this question, but I think about it quite often. Because of the number of self help books purchased, courses and seminars attended by those interested in this topic it makes you wonder why it is still popular with people. you can do itWould you believe that improving your confidence and self image is really easy. You know people have some great techniques on how you can do it, but you may not be up to the challenge for whatever reason. However, you know that you need it for your own sanity and benefit.

Ask yourself the question as you’re thinking about what you need to do in order to improve your situation, “How would the person that I would like to be, go about performing the things that I am in need of doing.” Can you see this person that you want to be. We all have a vision of who we want to be and it is usually someone that we already are, but we’re stuck some how  believing it can be so.

Have you ever been your other person and wonder how you did it. It was as if you were not yourself, but really you were. It’s just you got out of your head. You were so engrossed in the activities at hand that you couldn’t think about what others were thinking about you. It’s as if you were in ‘the zone’ where nothing else matters but that moment. Why can’t it be that way all the time? I think it’s that dreaded comfort zone, it sometimes can help us keep ourselves stuck in stupid. Read the rest of this entry

So it would stand to reason that ‘self esteem‘ means having a favorable opinion, regard or respect for yourself.

But what does it really mean to have a good opinion of yourself? Does it mean that we have to think positive thoughts about ourselves? Not really. To understand, we have to look more closely and come up with a self esteem definition that goes beyond what can be found in a dictionary. Read the rest of this entry
